Biphasic dose-response
When a low dose produces one effect and a higher dose produces the opposite. THC does this with anxiety.
Low-dose THC often reduces anxiety. Higher-dose THC reliably increases it, along with heart rate and, in some people, paranoia.
This is the mechanism behind most bad cannabis experiences, and it is why "take more if it is not working" is the wrong instinct.
